Advocating for Tourism in Northwestern Ontario
In 2017, KDCA has set out an ambitious agenda to help Tourism and the local economy. This year KDCA will be lobbying issues such as bear management, bait fish regulation, LUP restrictions, carbon tax expenses, septic systems, moose tag reductions, deer herd management, and “Tourism Matters” marketing. Just to name a few issues facing our Tourism Industry.
In 2016 KDCA spent a large sum of money to develop a new website. Work is still continuing on the site. The site is to be a forum on issues facing the industry. Camps and Allied members will be allowed post information on the site. This will be especially valuable to Allied members that want to advertise their products to the industry. Having a sale? Post it on the site. This is a very economical way to reach potential buyers and is included in your membership.
In the past 5 years KDCA has spent over $30,000.00 locally, advertising the economic impact tourism has on the N.W. Ontario economy. In past years KDCA has spent over $2000.00 to help the Waldhof Hall. KDCA is a sponsor of the Dryden Ice Dogs. This year KDCA plans to donate upwards to $5000.00 on the hospital’s new CT machine.
In order to continue the lobbying efforts and to help the local community’s needs, we will need more financial help from the Members and the Allied’s. Dues of $125.00 per year is a great way to help your industry and for local business to reach buyers.
Tourists spent $201,000,000.00 in the area – now that matters!
